I went to the gynocologist to see what was wrong with me and they did a pap test but found nothing. I have a yellowish discharge and a foul odor emitting from my region.. he told me it was normal but a pretty sure that the discharge is not supposed to have that type of color. I was thinking it could be trichomoniasis, do Pap tests test against that? Should I call and ask for an explanation?

Your doc is right. having a yellow lime colored discharge is fine just wash regularly. unless it looks like cottage cheese then you should be concerned.

Sounds like you have a condition known as "Papsilal". It is pronounced (Pap see lal) and can cause this discharge! It is almost always the cause of this hygiene problem. You can only control it as it will never go away on it's own. It is not contagious to anyone either. You will need to douche twice daily (am and pm). As you get older the Papsilal may subside a little. Many people who suffer from this problem claim that certain ingredients in bacon (believe it or not) almost makes the problem disappear and after speaking with them they said eating a half a pound of bacon per day kept it in check!
Hope this helps

I think a pap does test for abnormal bacteria. But it depends on what tests the doctor orders it to be tested for. I'd check with your doctor to be sure. If it doesn't clear up and your doc doesn't think it's a problem, then maybe seek a second opinion. I know that if it's green that is bad, but I have heard it can sometimes be slightly yellow and be okay. As far as the odor if you could describe what type of odor it is you could search online for information relating to that type of odor. Good Luck!

Switch to another Gyn. If he does not know an infection when he sees one, and says you are normal, when something is obviously wrong, he is not a good doctor.

Find another Gyn.

And, no, Pap tests do not test for STDs.

well if youre itchy down there as well as your other symptoms, it sounds like you have a yeast infection man! you should eat a lot of yogurt, and i know this is incredibly weird, but find an old pair of underwear and put plain yogurt in them and on/in the problem area, then go to bed. in the morning take a long shower and you're good to go.
insane and gross i know, but that really gets rid of yeast infections. if that doesnt work then yeah go back to your doctor. good luck!

i think u should definetely call another gynecologist and get that checked out. besides urine and the normal menstrual blood, no other liquid should be coming out. i dont want to scare u or anything, but if u have been sexually active u may have a veneral disease. i think ur gynecologist is wrong and im suprised he could even say that its normal. Definetely get a second opinion.

Sounds like it could possibly be trichomonas or bacterial vaginosis. The pap itself won't test for those, but often your gyn will do the tests for those at the same time. Call and ask if they did test for those, and if they didn't, why they think it couldn't be either of those and if they'd consider testing for them.

Yes! You could have that or a bacterial infection, both of which should be treated or it could progress to something more serious. Give them a call!
