The problem isn't how far he goes, but that he has the audacity to come back.

Hey I have mates with property abroad and if it's offered.... despite all appearances to the contrary he is human!
If the offerer has political connections then it isn't necessarily 'wrong' to accept a free holiday, but it's damn stupid!
You'd think by now he'd know that anything open to misinterpretation is gonna explode...
having said that - what exactly is sinister or clandestine about publically accepting a holiday property for a week from a bloke from the Isle of Man...? Do the Bee Gee's have undue influence on foreign policy or the troops in Iraq?
Besides - he's paying rental now - I'm no Blair fan but some of these answers smack of jealousy...

To be fair to Blair he is literally working 24/7 - if anyhting comes up at midnight he's got to get up. Give the man a break! Let him have a holiday or 2 or 3 or whatever. It's not like if something happens here he's not aware of it! He's still working!

If someone wants to offer him a villa in florida for a couple of weeks why should he not take it, WE WOULD, were just jealous that we didn't get the offer. I can't see a problem really, he has given a large sum to charity hasn't he, rather than paying for the villa.

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

If he takes the holiday free: accusations of sleaze, cronies etc.

If he refuses: Loses goodwill, especially with creative industries (worth a lot to the economy).

Cliff Richard's place in Barbados and now one of the Bee Gees places. Wonder if the said Bee Gee will now get knighthood?

Have you read the news properly, it stated that Tony Blair has paid for his holiday to Florida. He has not had it for free.

Free holidays are an almost sure recipe for a slower economy. The less people work, the less they produce. The more companies have to pay for nothing in return, the less incentive they have to hire.

It's not a free holiday - he is paying for his accommodation to the owner of the property (one of the Bee Gees)!!!
