I like what they're doing with this movie.. in that they are taking a fairly well-known group (the Fantastic Four) and introducing another superhero to the masses. Smallville is another example that does a great job at this. In these cases, it gives movie studios and TV heads the opportunity to gauge viewer responses to these new elements. This could lead to even more superhero movies and shows in the future.

The mass market is completely different from the niche market where the latter is much more familiar with the characters, while the former often has a vague inkling regarding other characters.

For fans of this genre, this is a great period to be watching movies (x-men, spiderman, supes, bats, hulk, etc..) and TV (The 4400, Heroes, Smallville, etc..). The superhero genre is especially given to the special effects that continue to be a bigger and larger part of motion pictures.

Silver Surfer with the absolutely great cgi (nice shots on the forum) and who also happens to be a cosmic superhero is just going to bring that much more 'bigger than life' storylines to the big screen (here's hoping that the plots are just as good). I'm hopeful that the continued success of these films continue to drive more serious TV production of new heroes. In the meantime, I'm enjoying every minute of it:-)

It will be a decent trick to put the CGI in the hands of the live performers. Although, this IS getting better and better all the time. This looks like a really great movie (from the trailer) as long as it can keep the interest of viewers and is not resolved too quickly like FF(I) was. And the first movie lead us to believe Dr. Doom would somehow continue to be the menace in the series. Is the Silver Surfer going to be friend or foe?

Very Cool. Good to see they are following at least SOME of the original story line since they were the first one to encounter the Silver Surfer.
