I love to bake and everyone loves my cookies and cakes. I want to start a business out of my home. Although I have the skills and I know I can do it, I haven't a clue how to start. Information on cookie business are few anywhere. I have a passion for this and I want it to go somewhere. My goal is to open my own bakery some day. Anyone have any advice or answers? Thanks a bunch.

Figure out what it will cost to you to make, market and deliver the baked goods. Include your time. Now are you still in a reasonable price range? How many pieces will you have to make in order to have the income you want? Can you achieve that by yourself or do you need to hire help? Include the cost of employees and also legal kitchen space.

I know a woman who wanted to do this kind of business. By the time she estimated all the costs, she figured she would have to sell her cookies at $2 a piece just to break even. So no matter how delicious her cookies were, it just wasn't a viable business.

Passions are good. I would start with regulations on cooking for others out of your home if that is where you are going to start, for your state and nationally. You may be able to do this online, but libraries and county business departments, permits, that type stuff... may have information also.

Good luck

a website would help :) check out http://www.BitTraffic.com its cheap, and if you dont know much about websites, they can help you design it just the way you want it, and also help submit you to search-engines, so people can find your bussiness above all the rest :) the internet brings a big percentage of most companies sales. try it out..
