Is this 2nd grade math?

A. I am going to guess that the width of the frame must be added twice, once for the left side of the window, and again for the right side of the window.

2 (1+1/4) + 6 + 3/8
= 2.5 + 6.375
= 8.875 inches

B. The heavier weight is 4+1/3 kilograms.
4 + 1/3 - (4 + 1/4)
= 4 + 4/12 - 4 - 3/12
= 1/12 kilogram

C. Sally drove her car...
4 + 1/8 + 5 + 5/12 + 3 + 2/3
= 12 + 3/24 + 10/24 + 16/24
= 12 + 29/24
= 13 + 5/24 miles

D. The student studied...
5 (4 + 1/3)
= 20 + 5/3
= 21 + 2/3 hours

E. The total length of thread is...
15 (6 + 3/5)
90 + 45/5
90 + 9
99 centimeters

F. This is a Marxist question. But an even share of the loot is...
(45 + 3/10) / 3
= 15 + 1/10
= $15.10

G. The answer is...
75 / (2 + 1/2)
75 / (5/2)
75 (2/5)
15 (2)
30 buckets

H. The answer is...
(2 + 3/8) / (7 + 3/5)
(19/8) / (38/5)
(19/8) (5/38)
(19)(5) / [(38)(8)]
5 / [(2)(8)]
5/16

I. The answer is...
(7 + 3/4 + 1/4) / (3/4 - 1/2)
8 / (1/4)
(8)(4)
32

A: Since there are two sides to the frame its (2 x 1 1/4") + the window frame 6 3/8"...which simplifies to 2 1/2" + 6 3/8. Then you need common denominators. 2 4/8 + 6 3/8= 8 7/8"

B: 4 1/3 is heavier by 1/12 --> 4 1/3 - 4 1/4 = 1/12

C:You need a common denominator of 24 first. You get 4 3/24 + 5 10/24 + 3 16/24 = 12 28/24. That reduces to 13 4/24... 13 1/6.

D: 4 1/3 * 5. You could turn the first part to a mixed fraction of 13/3 then multiply that by 5/1. You will get 65/3. Which equals 21 2/3.

E: Same for this problem. 15 * 6 3/5 = 15 * 33/5 = 495/5 = 99

F: Total earned = $45.30 then we divide that by 3 for them. 45.3 / 3 = $15.10

G: 75 / 2.5 = 30 buckets

H: first get mixed fractions for both--> 19/8 divided by 38/5..to do this we flip one of the fractions then multiply across. 19/8 * 5/38 = (19 * 5) / (8 * 38) = 95 / 304. Since that is a high number you can try and simplify. the 38 is a multiple of 19. So instead we get (1/8)*(5/2) = 5/16

I: We do this in parts. 1st: 7 3/4 + 1/4 = 8; 2nd: 3/4 - 1/2 = 3/4 - 2/4 = 1/4. Finally: We get 8 / (1/4) = 32

These should all be right but someone feel free to check the math. Good Luck!

A) Total width = width of the frame + width of the glass + the width of the frame (again, because one would hope the window is framed on both sides). 1 1/4 + 2 3/8 + 1 1/4= 5/4 + 19/8 + 5/4 = 10/8 + 19/8 + 10/8 = 39/8 = 4 7/8 inches.

B) Is 4 1/4 - 4 1/3 > 0? Or is 4 1/3 - 4 1/4 > 0.
Let's try 4 1/3 - 4 1/4.
=13/3 - 17/4
= 52/12 - 51/12
= 1/12 which is bigger than 0,
So 4 1/3 is bigger than 4 1/4 by 1/12 of a kilogram

C) Add the numbers up. 4 1/8 + 5 5/12 + 3 2/3
= 33/8 + 65/12 + 11/3
Figure out that common denominator is 24.
= 99/24 + 130/24 + 88/24
= 317/24
= 13 5/24

D) 4 1/3 hours per day for 5 days, so multiply.
4 1/3 X 5
= 13/3 X 5
= 65/3
= 21 2/3 hours total

E) Again, multiply. 15 X 6 3/5
= 15 x 33/5
= 99 centimeters

F) (45 3/10) / 3
= 453/10 /3
= $15.10

G) 2 1/2 gallons = 2.5 gallons
75 / 2.5 = 30

H) (2 3/8) / (7 3/5)
= (19/8) / (38/5)
= (19x5)/(8 x 38)
= 5/16

I) (7 3/4 + 1/4) / (3/4 - 1/2)
= (31/4 + 1/4) / (3/4 - 2/4)
= 32/4 / (1/4)
= 8 x 4
= 32

If this is your homework set, you should double check my math to make sure I didn't slip up anywhere (I didn't deliberately slip, but I'm sometimes I switch numbers around by accident--that's how I always lost points on my homework sets), and you should write out these problems yourself to make sure you understand how it works to prep yourself for any tests you might have on this.

A- the size of the window is equal to that of the frame
B- 4 1/3 is heavier, 4 1/3 - 4 1/4 cancel the 4
1/3-1/4= 1/12 thats how much heavier
D= 4 1/3 * 5= 13/3*5=65/3 hours

Too many questions.

I will help you only with one of them.

B- which is heavier ,4 1/4 kilograms or 4 1/3 kilograms? and by how much ?

4 1/4 = 4,25
4 1/3 = 4,333333....

Divide 1 by 4 and 1 by 3 and add the result to the 4. Then calculate the difference
