I used to receive small amounts whenever he was incarcerated. I don't have a social security number or address and I have not seen him in 6 or 7 years.

Where ever you were receiving support from has his social security number. But you should attempt to do a people search to see if you can locate him. You can also go to an attorney general or local child support office to see if they can locate him. Or you can look under child support recovery and try to get them involved. The only bad thing about them is that they charge a small fee once you start receiving child support. If you have received child support before then he will not be allowed to receive any income tax and his license will be suspended until he starts paying. Good Luck!!!

First off, you don't receive child support FROM your children you receive it FOR your children. Secondly, how can you not have his social security number? Use his prisoner ID number since that never changes and track it down that way. You'll need his name and date of birth and copies of the birth certificates and go to your local Legal Aid office. Track down the last known address you have for him.

Attorney General in your state is who you contact. If you have a date of birth, they can get a ss# and last known address. I assume you might be on food stamps for the kids, they will also help you. May take a while, but they will catch him, he will have to start paying or go back to jail. Good Luck, I think parents should support their children.

you need an attorney and legal advice. In your area see if you can find some free assistance (yellow pages) to help you file proper papers and get the child support you receive FOR your children adjusted to the proper amount.

The support you receive goes to housing and feeding the kids, it's not for you directly. You should remember it is for them for food, school, supplies, etc...

and yes you and your X-husband need to SHARE that cost.

well you need to contact your local child support enforcement office and talk to someone there and tell them all the details of your case .and also let them know that he has been incarcerated before . They should be able to track him down if they are'nt then they are being lazy and you can file a complaint with the states attorneys office. good luck and god bless .

You receive child support FOR your children, not from them. To get it from their father you need to contact Friend Of The Court, and hope their father have a job. If he is in jail I doubt if you will get anything.

Check out the division of family services in the state that you live in...or ask at your WIC office. They both have given me lots of info. I am trying to go thru this process myself...It sucks and it is a lot of paper work - let me know if I can help you anymore
