lots greater effective than a psp simply by fact the ds has greater little ones oriented video games like mario and if he likes pokemon then he could get it and wait till april while pokemon diamond and pearl come out

Yes. He would love it but it might not be the best gift for a child his age who needs to learn to get out and have fun outside of tv and games. But if you do control how much he plays it, it would be a good gift.

When i got a PSP for a 9 year old, he screamed and wouldn't stop hugging me. If you like that, then go for it! Sure he would like it! I would! lol

YES. My son saved up for months to buy this and its his favorite thing. He really likes that he can play videos on it. Allows him to watch videos on car rides. He also asks us to download music to it and listens to his favorite songs on it.
