so when I turn it on the computer turn on for a split second and then the screen goes blank. Then I wait and press the power again and the screen goes on for a split second. But it seems like the computer has been on while the screen was off since the page now shows the loading screen. Then the same happens for the entire loadup and when the computer loads up. Seems like a problem that you can't fix without modifying or replacing some of the parts. Take it in to your local Apple store. They'll diagnose the problem perfectly for free, but it may cost you some money to fix it.

My Powerbook G3 does this at startup sometimes. Just wait until the login screen appears and it will be ok.
