Bob Cousy, John Stockton, and Pete Maravich are really the only true point guards. A "true" point guard is a distributer first, scorer second, which rules out Thomas. Anyways, do any of you even know how Bob Cousy's Celtics played? High octane, faster and more uptempo than the Suns offense. Gary Payton and Jason Kidd will probably never be good enough to come close, especially Payton. Magic was only as good as he was because he had Kareem. Steve Nash has about another 5 years or so left, leaving him a potential candidate. Frazier was a defensive beast, but wasn't as offensively dominating. But I would consider The Big O one of the best point guards ever, for the fact that he averaged a triple double.

By 'True' I gather you mean pass first point guards, which are rare, especially nowadays.
I would agree with Stockton and Cousy, and I would also add to that list Jason Kidd, Magic, Steve Nash and Maurice Cheeks.

I disagree. I think it's hard to pick just 1 or 3 best PGs. Best PGs ever (no specific order):
-Magic Johnson
-Oscar Robertson
-Isiah Thomas
-Walt Frazier
-Bob Cousy
-John Stockton
-Gary Payton
-Steve Nash
-Jason Kidd

I agree finished heartily, John Stockton became the final organic PG of all time, even in a time while factor guards have been missed for my area, each and every physique became too busy fawning over scorers like Jordon,O'Neal and Magic. In todays interest PGs make an excellent extra advantageous effect on the interest. countless human beings will discredit him for his loss of championships. (the Jazz could not help being yet another sufferer of the Bulls dynasty) .mythical basketball coach John wood as quickly as mentioned Stockton became the single of very few gamers he could pay to observe. it somewhat is basically the way he performed, he became a real competitor and had lots of sophistication it somewhat is lacking interior the NBA immediately. p.s you cant argue with John's stats: !5,000+ assists and 2500+ steals.

I agree. But you should also mention Jason Kidd and Walt Frazier. At least Frazier Led the Knicks to their only two NBA Championships. Frazier and Cousy were part of Championship winning teams.

John Stockton never won or led a team to a title....Cousy didnt win one till he was teamed with Russell.....sorry but I'm still for ..Isiah Thomas...
Isiah has more assists and a higher assist average than Cousy..
6955 total assists for Cousy
vs. 9061 total assists for Isiah
7.5 career assist average for Cousy
vs. 9.3 assist per game average for Isiah
and Isiah has a higher scoring average than Stockton...check the stats.
13.1 points per game for Stockton
vs. 19.2 points per game for Isiah...
sorry the best player ever at 6'1'' is Isiah Thomas...scoring, passing, controlling tempo...it didnt get any better...

Yeah...but you are missing like, 3 others...Pistol Pete is one of them cuz he actually ushered in Showmanship as far as the PG position goes, Magic Johnson is cuz he took over the league as a 6'9" PG, when he could've done it at SF, and Chris Paul is going to be one of them.
