Personally, I think it's tragic when someone self-destructs.

I agree w/you totally. It is so hard to watch and have no real power to do anything to help.
I also find it heartbreaking to hear the stories and read the reports of the children being abused or worse by their own parents.

self destruction is tragic, but innocent children be used or abused has to be the worlds most heartbreaking events ever witnessed.

lonn chaney movies
he pours his heart and soul in the name of love for another but the one he loves leaves him or never notices what he feels for her
or when the badguy loses in a movie
i shout at the tv"YOU IDIOT"
its heartbreaking gut wrenching to watch them screw up and lose to the goodguy
if he/she would have just done this one thing or didn't do this one thing
then the day would have been conquered would have been won by the badguy
but its not all that popular of a concept for the badguy to win
so in most movies the badguy is destined to lose
and that's heartbreaking

Matt Kenseths motor blowing up during a race he could have had a top 5 finish in easily. That is just a killer to watch. (You have to understand I am a Nascar fan)

Definately child and animal abuse, and also elderly abuse. Any abuse of those who are helpless. I also find it heartbreaking to watch people who are so ignorant that they are willing to hurt others in order to get their own statement (s) or beliefs known.

the actions a person takes when they feel worthless and they seem to seek out the actions that will keep them in that state of mind (Which would be almost the same as what you said but more descriptive I guess)

Those commercials of Etheopian children starving to death. Even though I know that hunger is affecting people in the US....you don't see it commercialized like this and it is hard to see children hungry...
