i think that most people know in their hearts that harry will die, because they read between the lines and can tell, but no one wants him to die, even thogh that might be his destiny!

Some believe that Harry is a hocrux and therefore would have to kill himself to kill Voldemort. Although I do not believe this theory, I do believe that Harry will not make it through to the end of "Deathly Hallows". I believe this book will be very dark, just from the title, and the fact is, JK Rowling probably doesnt want to write these stories anymore.

I think she wants to make it more realistic where the good guy does defeat the bad guy, but he doesnt make it out alive. The outcome is good though because he has helped his world become a better place.

Unfortunately, I do. First, because every time I learn someone dies previous to the books being released I have been right (Sirius, Dumbledore, well except for Cedric but he was barely mentioned before book 4 and wasn't that main of a character until book 4). Second, in most heroes (if that's even a word) novels, the hero always dies: Beowulf, Sherlock Holmes, etc. It wouldn't feel right if everything was "and they all lived happily ever after." I would feel cheated. I don't' want him to die, I'll probably cry like a baby and probably go into morning just like I did after book 5 and 6. It took me a whole year to read book 5 again and I still haven't been able to get myself to read book 6 again. So yeah this is just such a sad subject and I wish things could just be as happy and Disney movie endings. But, that's just not life.

I spoke with this girl once who gave me the best theory.

In the 6th book, Voldemort put his essence in a certain amount of objects (7 I think). All of these things will need to be destroyed for Voldemort to be killed for good. The theory is that Harry is one of these people that Voldemort put his essence in and Harry will kill himself for the Dark Lord to be destroyed.

Its pretty dark and twisted, but a good TRAGIC theory.

p.s. I am very upset that this is the last book to look forward to...

Harry Lives!! Maybe we'll spray paint it on the subways like "Frodo Lives." I think Neville dies. Harry may lose his scar and maybe some or all of his powers (a la' Wizard of Earthsea), but not his life.

totally agree with Samantha's friend. Harry has to kill himself. To clarify though, yes there were 7 things, called horcruxs, which are the evilest things. He puts a piece of his soul in them, put the spell with which he does this requires that he kills someone. people said that something strange happened to Harry when Voldemort tried to kill him. here's what I think; it's said that he made Horcruxs with only significant deaths, so he was going to make one with Harry's parents deaths. He got the spells mixed up, and turned Harry into the last Horcrux by accident. That's why harry got some of his powers (because he had a bit of Voldemort's soul in him), that's why the sorting hat wanted to put him in Slytherin, and because it was the last bit of his soul, that's why Voldemort "died". Two people die in the last book, and i think it's Harry and Voldemort. In order for evil to die completely, Harry has to kill himself to get rid of the last bit of Voldemorts soul.

I think Harry lives on. The series has been good v. evil. Good has won out most of the time- and it hasn't been easy. I am rooting for Harry to finish it out at the end! :)

I think he lives, but either Ron or Hermione die. I've thought from the beginning that Hermione would die, but some people are starting to turn me towards the death of Ron through some pretty good arguments...

Sadly, I think he will die, but after he defeats Voldemort. They die together (in my mind anyway).
