mid to late 1800s. I like the idea of the small towns and simple life before technology and money turned civilization upside down.

The period when the nation was unravelling before the civil war because that was some intense change in such a short period of time. But I wouldn't want to live through the civil war.

My favorite time period is definitely the 1960s. That was when democracy was at its height. Whether or not you would be a hippie or a young republican, you can't discount how many important issues were on the national stage and the grassroots democracy that put them there. It was like how the French always are, storming the streets in protest of government actions. Now in the US, most people are too ignorant of the issues to be that passionate about them. Except for abortion, which in the scheme of things is not very pressing the way the situations in Iraq or Darfur are.

My grandparents time period, which means I would have liked to have been born in the 1910-20 time frame. Life seems like it had to be so much simpler then. People were more polite. Things that are acceptable now were not put up with then, such as kids being spoiled to the point of being obnoxious, men taking advantage of women and being proud of it, women could stay home and raise the kids while the men worked and not feel like they weren't pulling their own weight. Families ate dinner together and both parents were home. The technology didn't rule thier lives and things didn't change so much so fast that you couldn't keep up with it. Besides, the fashion was cool. I'd loved to have lived in NYC at that time period. Provided that I had some money, of course, and that I wouldn't lose it in the depression.

the 1950's are as far back as i would dare go!by then, there were antibiotics, novocaine and the polio vaccine!as attractive as the medieval or victorian eras sound, the cold hard reality was nt so gr8.no deoderant,no toothpaste, inadequate medicines, high infant mortality,no heating/air conditioning, slavery in some parts of the world, only 2 classes-rich and poor-mostly poor-we romanticise these eras now,but for everyone but the very rich, they probably pretty much sucked!!!by the 1950's, advances in medicines, nutrition, health and an increase in prosperity, mad e living a whole lot easier, yet there was still a naive charm, its enough in the past to be intreguingly antique, but u could still survive,say,pneumonia-which in the 1800's,most likely would've killed u.look how timeless and cool audrey hepburn and james dean seem-the 50's literally rocked !!!!!plus,i would be able to meet my grandma when she was young!!!!!!

I would've loved to live during the time of Scarlet O'Hara. I think having balls and wearing fancy dresses sounds more exciting, then sitting at home, typing on the 'puter, watching tv, etc. That is what most people do for fun now. I realize there are alot of negatives to that time period, but I think w/ any time period there are pros/cons.

I would love to see the Vikings, the American Revolution, and the Civil War. But I want to be able to live in this time period to tell everyone all about it. ;>)

I wish I was born seven years earlier than my birth year so that I could be 26 now! So the 1980's and 1990's.

One way in the future when the earth is clear and sunny and fun, and then we can start all over again. Like the time machine, by HG Wells.

For all the problems contemporary times have, I still prefer to live now than an earlier age.
