Downloading songs from CD to Ipod?

I got an Ipod for Christmas, and I only want to download certain songs from a CD, not the entire thing. Can I do this, or do I have to download the whole entire CD? If I can, how do I?

easiest way is to use windows media player to rip to your pc whichever ones you want and then import the mp3's into itunes

You don't have to download the whole CD. There are little boxes next to the song (if you are using iTunes) that all have green check marks in them. UNCHECK them if you DON'T want them to be downloaded!
