I can't afford hormonal birth control, I can't remember to take the pills. So, what are my other optionsof birth control? Of course, I'm goin' to a condom and please don't put "absitence". I wanna know what my options are and the percentage of the failure rate and such. I wanna know the statistics when used with a condom.

You say you can't afford hormonal birth control, but the pill is just that. You can get a shot every three months (you won't even have your period it's fantastic) and the failure rate is less than 1 percent. You can wear a patch (ortho-evra) and again the failure rate is less than 1 percent. Condoms are very effective, especially when used with spermicide (kills sperm). And if you're still a virgin, that's the best way to go. I take ortho tri-cyclen lo, but you have to remember to take that everyday. It's not that hard, just put it somewhere you can see it. Birth control can be expensive, so there's really not much that can suit your situation other than spermicide + condoms. The failure rate isn't as low as hormonal birth control, but it isn't high like the female condom! (21 percent or so) Just weigh your options, pick what's best for you, talk to a gynocologist or a parent.

I think you should try a back up in case a condom breaks...not really sure what the percentage rate for that happening is, but I have heard of it happening sometimes and that would be enough to scare me...maybe you could also use a diaphram as a backup method? You get fitted for it once and it would give you some added protection.

First off how old are you? If you haven't finished school or lived your life you should not think about sex. Why because you will end up with 10 kids hooking on the street corner and on welfare and people with jobs like me will have to pay for you and all your kids. Plus if there is a guy who says he loves you he is lying. he wants to take your virginity and then he wants to run. LOL

If you can't remember to take the pills, you are irresponsible and shouldn't be having sex. Are you prepared to be a mother? No method of birth control is 100% guaranteed.

There is really no other option but that and condoms. You can go to planned parenthood and see what they have to offer you and prices.
