How do you keep your chin up when something comes up that you least expect, and knocks you down. What keeps you going afterward? Please, give me some good advice.

Thank You

If needed, I start by taking some time to be sad, cry, stomp my feet - whatever I need to do. I usually go for a walk to the football field or woods to be alone for this, but I know that's hard if you are in a big town or have someone with you.

After I let out some of the frustration, I sit in silence to think. I talk to God, I make a plan for what my options are, or I just try to find one simple thing that is right to enjoy. (often I do all three) It may be enjoying a gentle breeze, listening to the crickets singing, looking at a single leaf growing on a tree, etc... but there is always something good around if you are willing to let yourself see it.

After my time of peace, I remind myself that in the end it will be ok. From everything bad comes something good. You loose a boyfriend/girlfriend, you have the opportunity to meet someone new. A loved one becomes ill or passes away, you may learn that there are people out there who care about you and are willing to help you get through a hard time. You loose a job, it's a chance to re-think your direction and look for an opportunity to learn new skills.

There are many things that keep me going and may help you and other readers too. I have a kid, I want to teach her that life keeps going and if you choose to participate in it, other good things will come. If you lost something that was important to you, look at it like this. It was what you needed when you needed it. Be glad that you had it and know that more good things will come if you just let them.

I hope things look up soon. I am curious what the problem is.

Have faith that God is going to use it for your good in some way. I know that right now you can't see how this could possible work out for your good but believe me, God can do anything. Remember, just because this blindsided you doesn't mean that it took God by surprise. God knew this thing was going to happen to you long before it actually did and he has already worked out what he's going to do with it to make it work out for your good. Some times God uses events like these to get us to get into a closer relationship with Him. You are going to be amazed at how God uses this event and turns it around for your good. Just think that while you are sleeping God is working on this problem....God never sleeps.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

For me, it all comes down to faith.Faith in the love and support of my family and friends.Having faith in myself and that things WILL get better.Hope,Love and Faith keep me going even when all I want to do is lay down and die(figuratively, not literally).
That faith can be like a beacon in the night of your darkest despair.

My sheer force of will makes me get up and move on. That's all you can do and try to learn something from the situation.

Whatever hope you have, whatever faith you have, hang on to it and visualize yourself being there.
I don't know what your hope is, and many on here have different hopes, so whatever it is focus on it and keep going forward. Don't look back and keep busy helping others. pray for help to endure and my God be with you
