I HAVE GEARS OF WAR which is very enjoyable, but I want to play a game that excels in the single player category. Co-op is also good, but I was thinking of getting an RPG or something along those lines. There are no late fees so I can keep it for over 30 days if I really want to.

All the suggestions above are good games, but I don't think they'd make good rentals. If you're going to rent, I'd get something like GUN. It's fun, fast paced, and the campaign doesn't take to long, so you should be able to win it before you have to return it.
It's been my favorite rental so far.

If you are looking for good co op then i would say go to an older game like halo or halo 2 but if you already have those then get Call of duty 3. For an RPG the only one that stands out in playability is Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion. Only get oblivion if you know you are going to have it for a long period of time and have enough time to play it.

If you really like single player rpg games then you should get The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

My freind has Project Gotham Raceing for the 360 and its really fun. But I don't know of a shooter that is long enough to play that would be fun for the 360. All the shooters that he has are really short to me but the graphics and sound kinda makes up for that in a small way.

Dead Rising would make a great rental. Its a pretty short arcade style game that would be a blast for quick play-throughs.

FEAR is pretty amazing... and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is a must have.
I think Oblivion is waaaay overrated.

I would have to put my vote in for Oblivion as well. Very entertaining and addicting. Will give you hours of gameplay...

well if you like fps games CALL OF DUTY 3 is a must have... it is an awesome game and great to play online
