In order to breed bettas you need a five gallon tank with plants reaching th surface. keep the male and female you wish to breed close together but in seperate tanks( so they get used to each others presance). after three weeks transfer the male to the five gallon tank with the females tank right next to it. the male will blow bobles for a while untill there is a mat of bubles ( usualy arownd plants that reach the surface). Only transfer the female to the five gallon tank when her body has a bulg to it and there sould be two faint neon yellow stripes runing the length of her body. If she does not have a larg belly or yellow line DONOT put her in with the male! If the female isn't ready to mate the male might herass the female. When both bettas are in the tank watch them for a while to see if one or the other is niping the other's fis. If so then remove one of the fish. When they mate the female will releass two too three eggs at a time wich the male wil cary in his mouth to th bubble nest. When mating is over you should remoove the female from the tank because the male will defend the eggs from preditores and the female. The female may become ijerd by the male if he sees her as a thret to the young.
