I'm 14, and in highschool. School sucks for me. It always has, and always will. I understand everything pretty much right away, so I just sit through boring lessons and exersizes. I don't do well grade-wise.
My dad was the same way, but he got the equivalent to a GED while he was in school. Do you know what this is and how you are eligible for it?

A GED is equivalent to a high school diploma however...
When your dad was getting a job there were a lot less people to choose from and his employer probably saw nothing wrong with hiring a GED.
NOW there are way more people applying for the same job. One of my cousins is a manager at McDonalds and he says when he has to hire someone and everything else is equal the High School Diploma will ALWAYS beat out the GED. I'm sure it is that way in any industry.

Ask your school counselor to be placed in an alternative school. In these schools you work at your own pace and get a GED as quickly or slowly as you like. Don't listen when they tell you a high school diploma is better, because it is not. It may have in the past, but that is no longer the case. Especially if you are getting some college after your GED.

According to the GED Testing Service, www.acenet.edu, 'More than 95 percent of U.S. employers consider GED graduates the same as traditional high school graduates in regard to hiring, salary, and opportunity for advancement.'

I GED is an alternative to a HS diploma. I dont think there are any special requirements to test for one. You might wan to talk to someone in your school district about that. School sucked for me to until I went to college. Hopefully you will go and get a degree so you can do something you really like to do as a career. HS is hard for teens no doubt....Just don't stop at a GED...

The General Education Development exam gives you the equivalent of a HS diploma. You can take the test in your state and get a HS diploma.

But most states will not allow you to take it until you are 18, because school is generally compulsory until then unless you are going to college early or working.

It is not a difficult exam, but requires some preparation. You can do it online.

GED is a basic grade diploma but it won't show up when you go to get a job in the real world. Ask yourself one question. What is it I want to do when I get older or what interests me to the point I won't feel it is a job? Your answer will or may take some time for you to answer but your future is a big as you want it to be , however it all depends on YOU. Nobody can force you or teach you unless you want them to teach you. If you want to make a real income( your idea of one) you have to get excited about what you want to do for your future to make it happen.

you have to be 16 and usually your parents have to let you "quit school", but seriously dude, finish school! GEDs are NOT equvilant in the eyes of an employer, even though they claim otherwise. I worked at a staffing firm and every GED applicant was tossed for certain jobs. Stay in school!
