First off, welcome to my world, ha ha.

Now on to your question.....I wouldn't "diet" if I were you. I would eat several small healthy meals a day. I would exercise moderately. (Walking and swimming are excellent ways to exercise.) You'd be surprised. You might not loose any weight, but you probably won't gain any either. Which is fine, as long as you ARE eating. I say this, because a lot of the "diets" out there are probably not good for baby. You need to make sure that you've giving baby everything they need, and restricting your diet isn't going to accomplish that. So eat healthy wholesome foods, and concentrate on a healthy baby. Perhaps you can change your eating habits while you're pregnant and continue them after your baby gets here. That's the safest way to lose weight anyway. Take care and good luck!

*side note* I gained a lot of weight with my first because I was pre eclampic....my second I gained 12 pounds....my third pregnancy I carried twins to term and lost 18 pounds, gained those back plus 6. If you're overweight now, but start eating right and taking care of yourself, you probably won't gain a whole bunch of weight. I like to think I was loseing it, as I was gaining it, because in my first two my weight didn't change at all for the first 6 months. You take care of you, and make sure your baby is getting everything it needs, and you'd be surprised at the small amount of weight you gain during your pregnancy.

You'd better ask your doctor about what you should do, but being pregnant and dieting don't usually go hand in hand. There are several books out there that can give you information on healthier eating, which can incidentally help with your weight problem. Check out "Eating for Pregnancy", by Catherine Jones, or "Eating well while you are expecting", by Heidi Murkoff. Both of these books are geared towards providing the best nutrition for your baby, while at the same time avoiding getting too big. It may ultimately help you control your urges or at least point them towards healthier foods.

Good luck!

Well, you should certainly start eating healthier, but consult your doctor about your weight and exercise regimines, since a certain amount of weight gain is needed for the baby.

Walk walk walk!!! Nothing too stressful on the baby like jogging. If you were used to eating junk food all the time just cut down on it and eat healthy food and walk alot and you should shed the excess lbs in no time!!
