I think it a pitiful double standard that was brought on by the civil rights movement. The civil rights movement started out to be something good, but it's turned into the crap that's going on today.

It isnt ok. Racism is wrong period.
I think you are right about civil rights. It was something that was needed, but it has been carried out to a deplorable result. For instance, affirmative action, which by definition is racist since it counts people by their ethnicity.

First of all the civil rights movements had nothing to do with some of the black people out there today who are racist towards white people! Make sure you understand what you say before you say it! Secondly I'm tired of all these white people who ask this very question all the time or questions similar to it. The little racism that white people think they may be experiencing is NOTHING compared to what our ancestors have gone through. So stop whining about being called a cracker or whatever. It's getting old! It still boggles my mind how you could even say that the civil rights movements brought upon this behavior of some white people. It only brought along good things.

The problem is you, who percieve a double standard where none exists. It is NOT OK for minorities to be racist.

If you are thinking about the comics, who rant on stage with remarks about others, then many of these are equally wrong to do that as it would for a white person to stand up on stage and to the same thing.

Where many people get it wrong is when they criticize a comedian that points out the very real, and silly stereotypes of ALL races. Comics like Carlos Mencia, and Dave Chapelle make fun of everyone, including themselves, because people of ALL races do ridiculous things. There really ARE black people with Jamaican dreadlocks, African national colors, baggy pants and boom boxes held up to their ears. There really ARE Hispanic men, standing on street corners, pitching pennies to pass the time. There really ARE white men and women that put up their hair in cornrows and talk Eubonics and black slang.

To say these stereotypes don't exist is to deny reality. But for a person of one race or ethnicity to rag on an other in a superior fashion is equally out of touch with reality.

Racism is only bad because it assumes the racist's peers are without fault. Otherwise racism would only be the harmless recognition that people are different.

Because they are. They are born that way. They are bred that way and that is just the way they are. They have nothing else in their stinking lives to keep ongoing so they keep that crap up.
Look at them. Just take a good look at them. How they live. Act. Work. (ya, right) Remember they are the top dogs no matter where they are. Ignorant and could not read a newspaper to save their souls. Oh, I forgot. One more thing, they will never be able to better themselves, or their children. Thats why all the hate. They drink hateraid and all the haterizing. They just dont know any better and will never will. This is the way they want to live so dont bother yourselves with them. Just sit back and enjoy the show. They are here to stay so make the best of it. Someone has to be at fault so it might as well be the rest of the population
but not them.

Well, White People always think they are better than others! White's always feel Superior because they accumulate more cash than any other minority. This causes White's to become racist by looking down on other races. White's are weak and stand behind money and technology for their strength. White's deserve racism more than any other race on this planet. When Minorities are in their own country they do not face racism but, when they go to Countries with alot of White's such as Europe, United States and Canada they get racism against them. Now who is racist!!!! Face it your ancestors started it, now you new generation must now feel the heat. It burns doesn't?

There is no double standard. Racists whites of the South and North (no offense) always wanted their own "anything." So, why can't blacks contribute to their historical colleges (with thanks to segregation in the past)? Whites are not banned. What if blacks build their own neighborhood, are you going to complain that they are being racist? Whites move out of neighborhoods when too many blacks start to populate (You're complaint vs. this fact is a double standard).

i think you're right to an extent. i think it also depends on what part of the country you live in. down here in the south i notice it a lot. the black people at lunch sit together even though they're nice to us whities. i, personally sit with my closest friend for lunch at work and she's black. she's totally not racist although she isn't from this country. but i do noticed that it's okay for black people to say comments about white people and think it's okay but we have to watch everything we say just to make sure we don't offend them. Oh wait, what do they want to be called these days, black, african american, colored, dark skinned? Who cares, it's not like i go around telling others not to call me white but cream, light skinned, caucasian, vanilla colored. I think we all need to forget about what color we are and just enjoy each other for our attitudes. I didn't enslave you, don't take your great grannies oppression on me.

As I understand it, the civil rights movement gained momentum on the basis of a law that had no pertinence whatsoever to rights of any kind.

I think they still believe they must continue in M.L. Kings footsteps,King had alot to fight for but its over please let it go.I owe nobody nothing, neither I or any past family owned any slaves or kept rosa parks from riding the bus.Where I'm from we were all equal no matter what, even through the civil rights era.
Yes I agree that we are the minorities any more, most state and federal govts. do business with minorities first then women who own a business, even if the minority business is higher, just stating facts. We are not allowed to voice our opinions, but they can speak publicly and trash us mean white folk, but as soon as we say something about an action taken by a rapper,OJ,micheal jackson, don king, jessee jackson,al sharpton, etc. etc. we are lambasted and have lawsuites filed.Yes its wrong and thats the facts jack.

And there you have it OohLa, a blanket insinuation of white people being racist denotes that I am racist because I am white. Stop being so stupid and generalising millions of people whose only shared trait is a lack of melanin in their skin. Same goes for this question - how can you possibly generalise black people per se as racist? Do you know ALL of these personally? Why are these questions constantly being asked?
