My Friend,

You ask an interesting question. But, you will find your question is much like asking "What kinda of underware should I buy?" Some like boxers, other briefs, and other NONE :) Nothing wrong or right about any of them.

For my money, Lenovo is really good, however, not cheap. With your money, a low end Dell might suit you better. You are not going to get much with that money.

There are quite a number of laptops that falls under your needs. But please include these specs first so you can more or less approximate your requirements:

1.) Do you prefer Windows XP Home or XP Pro, Linux or Tiger Operating System?

2.) Which processor would you need (Intel, Mac or Transmeta) ?

3.) What is your desired weight of a laptop ( 4 lbs, 5 lbs, 6 lbs, 7 lbs) ?

After that you can cut down on brands. Good luck!

I don't know what that translates into in American dollars, but if it's 400 - 500 dollars (which I don't think it is), then you could get a new HP or Compaq (they are the same company), or you could maybe land a low-end Dell (as the other guy said).

If you could afford it, you should spend more and get a Toshiba or Sony Vaio.

good luck and God bless.

Why don't you go or call a computer store, or an all offer emporium, and ask them there. They can help you get exactly what you want.
