1. defragmenting my hard drive--didn't help (even when completely done)

ve got more than enough hard drive space, etc (120 GB, 1024 MB system memory, 1.60 Hz Intel Core Duo processor, etc, etc...)


I wash my window at least every other day, do spyware and cookies sweep every day (even twice a day), virus scan every day...

Well you have done most of what I would suggest. You have to be clean of viruses and spyware/adaware. You did not mentio a Disk Cleanup. If you have not done that I would. Then look into a couple of tweaking programs.

My brother had the same problem, it might be the router itself. Dlink is the most reliable but I use Linksys. That said, even the same manufacturer could give you problems. Return that router then get a cheaper version of it (meaning older technology but more reliable).

Another thing could be if you placed a password to protect your router. It might take some playing around with which security setting allows your laptop to access your router faster.
