I'm sorry to say that it is true that there are some truths in stereotypes. The fact that there is a stereotype in the first place toward a particular group of people is proof that the particular event was observed by enough people that a stereotype was created. It doesn't mean it is always right or the way every in the group behaves or actually is, but it does mean that it was frequently observed by others outside that group. Most of the time that behavior or characteristic is blown out of proportion, but the original behavior was frequently observed!
