I'd like to get a nice present ($20-$35) for a friend whose birthday is right after Christmas. He's someone I kind of have a crush on, but he's got a girlfriend (I'm pretty sure he does... not 100% sure). What can I get him that is nice but not inappropriate, given the situation?

A book about something the two of you have talked about, a CD of music both of you like, a DVD of a movie that you both like. Get him something non romantic that will remind him of you and that will also let him know that your thinking about him and what he likes. If this situation he's in right now doesn't go the way he wants it to he'll know your thinking of him and might just act on that.

you don't want anything that is mushy, or that gives the wrong impression. How about something fun like movie tickets from Fandango or the movie passport (two tickets and snacks) from the local theater? He can take whomever he wants to -maybe it will be you.

Or would he appreciate a cute little gold fish in a nice bowl for his room/desk? Or a nice keychain like a geod or something? How about a nice pocket knife-like with a nice wooden handle?

Give it some thought I am sure you will find the perfect gift and the answer to your question.

Depending on what he likes, thats the general area I would go for.

If he is really into music, get him possibly a cd or an itunes gift card

If he is artsy, give him like a sketch book or fabric.

If he is into sports, maybe get him tickets to a game or something...

OK this might sound cheesy and weird but your present doesn't have to be about money toward him to make him feel special. but if you want to give him something then why don't you think on what he like do to....for an example: if he likes to go skating, take him skating with you. something like that.

see everyone thinks b-day present its all about money or the things THEY GET. its not. its the thing SOMEONE give you, not the stuff. you give someone not because you HAVE to, make it because you WANT to.

but ya ask him closest friend and see what he likes that might help. well i hope he likes what you're about to give him!!!

I found some gifts under $30, but I am not sure weather they are fit him or not, since I don't know his interests. Hope it can be useful and Good Luck to you.

i wouldn't get him cologne, but that's just me. i don't think it's totally inappropriate but it's not your best choice.
depending what he's into, get him something that will interest him and make him remember you.
try getting him a shirt, book, music, etc...
good luck

Two tickets to a show. Who he takes will tell you all you need to know about his romantic status.
