It's about the TV networks. Rose Bowl is on ABC. ABC and ESPN are part of the same company -- both owned by Disney -- so they cooperate and do co-marketing. You are probably seeing that hype on ESPN.
The championship game is on Fox. You're not going to see much hype for that on ESPN, which is a competing network to Fox.

The ABC/ESPN thing is part of it...
Another part of it is tradition...the Rose Bowl has tons of history behind it and is "The Granddaddy of Them All."
A third reason is that it holds a lot of intrigue...you have two storied programs who, at one point, where sitting pretty to be in the National Championship game. It's a week before the Title Game and is a great match-up.
Finally, there's also the chance of a split National Title. If Michigan blows out USC and Florida barely wins over Ohio State this game could be Michigan's national title game.

ESPN and ABC (both owned by Disney Corp.) are hyping the Rose Bowl during the ESPN bowl telecasts because the Rose Bowl is the only BCS game being broadcast by ABC.
The other four BCS games are being broadcast by FOX.

its a better Game USC or Michigan are both better than the Gators if it wasn't for urban Meyer's whining like a 4 year-old. one of the those teams would been in the BSc championship game.

Part of it is because of the two schools involved. But also, the Rose Bowl is traditionally the most watched of all the bowl games.

Could also be timing. The Rose Bowl is on nearly a week before the NC.

It more about usc. they are not playing in the championship game as some people thought they would be. so wutever they are playing in will get a lot of hype.

well i would have to say because the game is gonna be a close one because michigan and usc are very close in skills....... and also the national championship is gonna be a blowout.
