I am in a community program that tutors at risk teens and young adults. There is a 19 year old female from Mexico (she is legal, with a green card) I am tutoring who is pregnant with her 4th child. She says she wants another child b/c she gets more welfare money...WIC, medicaid, gov't gives her child support, free daycare, lowered rent, phonebills, etc. I consider myself very liberal but this is rediculous! Do you think welfare is taken advantage of???

Duh!! It's called welfare fraud. That green card only means she can legally work here, not become a breeding farm. A law was passed back in the 90's in Texas that only lets a person collect welfare for 36 mo. within a life time. WIC and reduced rent however are Federal programs that have no limits. Everyone of those kids probably has a different dad too. So why aren't they paying child support. The Bleeding Heart Liberals in this country don't think there should be consequences for frauds like this girl. The only consequence is on you and me and the rest of us poor schmucks that pay the taxes that pay her bills, and the kids she is breeding. She needs to get a job pay her taxes, or give the kids up for adoption and go back where she came from. There are also laws that require that you have any stray that you adopt be sterilized so we reduce the unwanted puppies and kittens but the liberals would never stand for mandatory birth control or sterilization for women like your student.

Of course the welfare system is abused. It doesn't give these losers any incentive to get off their lazy butts and get a job. The welfare system is so brodken it's beyond repair. If anything is done to fix it, the stupid ACLU will probably start suing everyone in Washington. What a joke, don't get me started.

I disagree that Europe is greater centred around impartiality and transparency, I grew up there. i do no longer think of that any government is truly sparkling, besides the undeniable fact that, usa would not hide up as much as maximum governments, in Britain they have been opaque for eons, that's getting somewhat greater effective simply by fact human beings ultimately are turning out to be somewhat greater purpose. You cherry picked Sarah Palin as instilling concern, with study and impartiality you will locate many try this, looks to me the uncomplicated ones are not getting far as they do no longer play the sport. No i don't have faith that it grow to be pushed by utilising racism. there'll consistently be racism to 3 degree on all aspects. I additionally see that the interest racism is used indiscrimately if one disagrees with the policies of President Obama. The word itself is turning out to be diluted and that's a shame the place actual racism happens. i think the comparable way appropriate to the interest sexism.

Yes. She makes it hard for the people who really work and deserve help. I am tired of people "pimpin'" the system. The people who work, struggle to pay the bills on time, have kids and the husband/wife leaves them high and dry unexpectedly (if he/she makes income and leaves, this kills the family's checkbook), they are the ones who suffer. This girl doesn't deserve to be here taking adavantage of this country because of those people who WORK will NOT get aid BECAUSE of women like HER. That is bull!

Hell yes! I too am liberal, but this is ridiculous. It's because of greedy, lazy people like her that those who actually need assistance, and WANT to get on their feet are unable to. She ruins the system, and then everyone stereotypes the program.

How can there be any other reply than YES ! and how! the scenario you'd described is just that-- Abuse.

though I suppose that if welfare is the ~occupation~? than the woman you described is ~promoting~ herself and children into as secure a ~job~ as she can?

I hope that she is not in California(Im not sure how it is anywhere else) because all of that is now limited to 5 years of assistance. and when it runs out you and your kids are done!!!! I think it should be like that everywhere!! Tell her to stop being so lazy and tell her to support herself!!

OOOOO- That makes me so mad!!
