Writing a check is going to be limited to the account holders or someone to whom you grant power of attorney. However, if you broaden your question to include electronic withdrawrals, you can grant various individuals, organizations and businesses the right to take money from your account without notice. For example, if you have a Paypal account and have linked this to your checking account, Paypal can withdraw money from your account as needed. Some people grant similar permissions to credit card companies, mortgage lenders, utilities, or EZPass. While these permissions are only valid for legitimate transactions, you should be aware that you are granting someone unlimited license to withdraw from your account without review. If their view of what's legit is different from yours, you will not be able to stop them. Your recourse is "morning after," as problems would be worked out after your cash is in their pocket. So be careful out there. My suggestion is to keep as much control over your money as possible.

Only other people on your account, someone with a power of attorney, someone who steals your account number and password, if you have an online account. Parents and/or spouses cannot access your account unless they are on it.
