I am a gay who has had 3 sex partners in 2 years, am HIV negative, I pay my taxes, I live quietly, do volunteer work and I am a good brother to my sisters, a good uncle to my nephews and I am no threat to any kind of 'public health'.

Is Metallica 'heterosexual' music?

Is Wal-mart a 'heterosexual' store?

Homosexuality is not a behaviour, merely a state of being, like being left-handed.

Are all left-handed people sexually promiscuous?

I've asked this several times myself.

I live a lifestyle of a mother, a partner, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a good neighbor, a member of my local community, an artist, a business owner, someone who's self employed, of a forty year old...etc....

But I've yet to see a gay house, gay car, gay furnature, gay kitchen appliences, gay clothing, gay house plants, gay electronics like televisions or stereos, gay computers, gay art supplies, gay invoices, gay billing programs, gay shipping systems...these are the things, services, ways I live my life...

What of any of that has to do with being gay?

NONE OF IT!!

It all has to do with being a human being!
A contributing member of society~
I pay my taxes, raise my son, help others in my community, volunteer at my son's school, work hard, keep my word and promices, and love my family unconditionally~

The "gay lifestyle" is a MYTH and I'm tired of defending my life!

Because the Gay Lifestyle has some basic elements; Attraction to the same sex. Expendable income. Clothing and Music styles that of identifies them as being LGBT.
To a lesser degree, living in or near communities that have a largely gay population. Many intimate partners.

There are drug cultures also, and ravers, emos, goths, etc all these are negative and unhealthy lifestyles which effect public health.

If you lived on an orchard and really loved apples, then I guess you world be living in the "apple-eating lifestyle"

I think that most people are comfortable being able to categorize others. If the gay lifestyle has a negative connotation, then that is problematic. Yes, I resent being thought of based on my sexuality alone, but think about stereotypical thinking that you might embrace. You probably have made assumptions or have had expectations based on the ethnicity, gender or socio-economic status of others. What might you think a teacher would do in a certain situation versus a lawyer in the same situation. It's unfortunate but realistically, we all engage in erroneous thinking.

"Gay lifestyle" is the term for creating mysterious horror stories about the "others" who live down the road . . . a way of separation. Like the haunted house on the hill, no one knows what's in it, but it's on a hill, we don't go near it, and can make up so many stories about those people who live there.
Not sure about the apple-thing... It doesn't sound a glowing example to me.

I think that the term "lifestyle" is used to further discriminate and distance gay people. Your style of life has alot more to it than ones sexuality. Being gay is just a part of me not the whole picture. To put another label on it makes people feel "safer" and not involved.

You mean you don't all run, chasing each other around the bed at night wearing a frilly, little, pink tutu?!!!! OMG! I've had it all wrong all of these years?!!!! Just kidding. I'm straight 8, and don't really spend much time worrying about how others behave or what they do behind closed doors. I have enough trouble of my own to contend with telling others how they should or should not live their lives.

I don't know about you personally, but most gays choose for homosexuality to be a life style instead of a mere sexual preference. If a straight guy likes anal sex, there usually isn't a lot on his person that you could see and immediately think "oh, that guy likes anal." Too many gays, however, choose a homosexual lifestyle by not just having sex with men, but also by wearing tight pink t-shirts, little shorts, rainbow patches, and saying "FABULOUTH!!!"

Sorry about your plight, but if being gay for you is really nothing but a sexual attraction to the same sex instead of a flamboyant lifestyle, good for you. :) If there are more like yourself out there, maybe there'd be less straights out there who have no alternative but to think that homosexuality is a joke.

I don't believe in a "gay lifestyle". I DO believe in a "queer lifestyle", but a couple of lesbians or two guys who have 2.5 kids and a couple of dogs and move to the suburbs is NOT it.

i'm not gay, but i get up and do the same thing as any other person. gay or not, we all put our pants on the same way ( unless you're a chick like me and you wear skirts on occasion). Anyway, they must hate their lifestyle, becuse it's pretty much the same as yours.
