My baby girl still doesn't have any teeth and she is 9 months old. She seems like she is going to start teething for weeks now, but nothing has popped through. Is this normal? Should I call the pediatrician?

Hey there. Well I can tell you from personal experience that my daughter didn't actually have any teeth at all til she was 14 months old. She had been teething since she was around 2 1/2 months and I was very worried when she had her first birthday and still didn't have any teeth. Her pediatrician told me it was perfectly normal that they would come in when they wanted to but that he would keep an eye on her. So I would just mention it to your daughters pediatrician at her next appointment but remember all babies are different :o)

Contact the pediatrician just to make sure all is well. Most often baby foods will keep teeth from coming out soon. Giving foods like rice and potatoes for adults can help with the teeth process. One thing to check is making sure the child is getting a very balanced meal and formula.

It is perfectly fine and not that uncommon, as you see from all the answers. My daughter is 10 1/2 mos old and still no teeth. Her pediatrician says the later they get teeth, the better. This decreases the chance of tooth decay. It is even better if you are breast feeding- no teeth to chomp on you. Enjoy it while it lasts!!

Every child is different, some don't cut their first teeth until after they are a year old. My daughter was 13 months before her first teeth came in, then she had 8 within 6 weeks.

I actually have heard of a few babies that did not have any teeth until they were about 10 months or so, but I would definitely call your pediatrician simply to express your concerns about this.

Although your baby's first little chomper can poke through anywhere between three and 12 months, sometime in the seventh month is the average time of arrival. Surprisingly, though, teething symptoms can appear as much as two to three months before that first tiny tooth does.

My first got teeth at 14 months, my second at 4 months and my third at 10 months. The later they get their baby teeth, the later they will get their adult teeth and that is a good thing. Enjoy those toothless grins.

I had one daughter who didn't have any teeth until whe was 9 months old. Then she got 8 teeth within a week. She also didn't loose her first tooth until she was almost 9yrs.

My grandmother didn't have any teeth until she was well over a year.

Don't worry, she will get teeth when her body is ready.

this is fine - don't be alarmed! i have two boys, and neither one had a tooth before 10-11 months old - my youngest will be 1 next week and he has 2 teeth, that's all! he seemed to be "teething" and drooling for MONTHS before anything came through - just give it some time, be patient, and enjoy those toothless smiles - they don't last long enough!

my son was 13 months when he got his first tooth, he is now 3 years old and still has 4 teeth to grow. It doesnt matter, they will probably stay stronger for longer as a child, which is good..and because he was old enough to tell me when he was teething, it made it easier to help him if he was in pain.
