Small moons will have craters but bigger moons with atmospheres do not have many because most of the craters will be eroded away by the action of the weather.

Yes, it has a lot of them.

This is because it has no atmosphere so rocks, meteors, etc, are unhindered as they head toward the moon. Therefore, projectiles in space have an easy time hitting the moon's surface whereas the earth's atmosphere melts away meteors because of the friction of the air.

So, tonight, go out and look at the moon. It is not one solid color - it has dark and light spots. So yes, it does have craters.

Sure, and lots of them are huge. There are craters on the near side and on the far side of the Moon. Many photographs of these craters may be found in Ian Ridpath's book ASTRONOMY.

You bet it does.

Try the NASA web site. Have a look at some of the photos available of the moon and elsewhere. There is some great stuff in their archives.

No, those grey areas you see there are really lakes. Its where the moon fish comes from, and why they are so expensive. Flying out there to catch them is a real pain.
