LONDON, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Britain may institute a new law that says men can be charged with rape if they have sex with a woman who has consumed alcohol.

ok this is getting too much. I say, if this the case anywhere, then make it 1) a law that women who sleep with men who drink are arrested too, and/or 2) women are no longer allowed to drink with men.

what do you all think? would that be fair?

It is a bit ridiculous the measures they go to today to insure peoples safety. Truly a woman should be intelligent enough not to become completely intoxicated to the point were she can be taken advantage of. I hate to say it, but maybe you are right and we should return to some kind of old fashion values of women not being allowed to drink among men.

Wow, that is getting a bit much. But perhaps you have heard a distorted view, and what it really is about is some limit to how much alcohol she has had, after which, you see, she is legally incapable of consent. That would be fair, I think. It would be like treating her as temporarily a child and not responsible for saying no.

Of course, that would involve her proving that she was in fact that drunk at the time. I wonder what evidence would be used, when she may not report the rape for many hours after it occurs for a variety of reasons, chiefly shock.

I believe it may be a law which will have rather limited application. Imagine a woman sitting in the witness stand saying "I got so drunk I passed out, and then he raped me." After all, testifying in a rape case is hard enough.

I could see where number 1 could be valid. The whole probably I would have with this is the fact that neither can really give consent as they are both impaired, so who is actually guilty of rape?

Drunk women have always been a fav of mine. Now I have to rethink that system.
