When actors cry in movies, do they actually cry or do they put some sort of drops in their eyes or something?

Some actors actually have the ability to tap into there emotions and cry and some of course need help doing so. You can tell which one can and which ones cannot. The one's that can always look a little redder in the eyes and face. I can tell which ones cannot pull it off. They require an onion or special drops they use

Both.Some actors really cry by reminding them self a sad moment that happen in there lives ( more like make them selfs cry) and some just put eye drops or something else in there eyes.

Most reputable actors do actually cry via extensive training in a technique called "recall" where they bring up emotions from a past experience; usually a death of someone close, etc.

However, some will smear a small amount of invisible glycerine paste underneath the eyes that stimulates the tear ducts.

Both. Some can make themselves cry in movies. But others use a sort of concealer that they spread under their eyes. The concealer starts to burn and make the eyes water.

I think for the most part they really do cry. They can tap in a upsetting moment in their real life that can help them out with it. We don't call them actors for nothing.
