Actually both sides of the media can be immoral. They can be two different extremes of immoral. As far as the movies, alot of the top movies in the country right now don't involve sex or violence (Pursuit of Happyness, Happyfeet, Charlotte's Web are now top of the box office). So the public ticket sales disagree with you there.
I think immorality has been going on for a long time. I would take this time over the Jimmy Carter & Nixon years, where any important political figure was killed for standing up for the rights of all people, Vietnam, and all kinds of ridiculousness of adults who pretended to be moral and spreaded hate. I don't think that day was moral either. So many Americans killed Indians in forming this country as a sport and took over their way of life when they didn't bother anyone, and went to pray in their churches afterwards. I am not saying there isn't immorality going on. We have a ways to go now, but we have come a long way from what America was before.

honestly when was morality really the norm?
sure maybe the media gets away showing more then they did in the past.
but socially we still had many chunks of people who where still being threated as subhuman.
and no watching sex and violence isn't like the romoan colieusum in the fact that real people don't die (which just to show how much morals have improved for mankind)

What makes you think the old days were good? It is a false concept, sort of like imagining people were more honest in the old days! Or that gang crime didn't exist... Now look at some of the old Gangster movies from the 30's...Was it better then now? Worse or just the same.....
Morality is an illusion!

You mean the liberal media like: Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Savage, Joe Scarborough, Robert Novak, Pat Buchanan, William Buckley, Cal Thomas, Pat Robertson, Ann Coulter, everyone on FOX News, Charles Krauthammer, Thomas Sowell, George Will, William Kristol, Laura Ingraham, John Stossel, Tucker Carlson, Brit Hume, etc? Nope, there are no conservatives in the media at all.
You mean the good old days when there were lynchings and it was a crime for people with different skin color to marry? To which good old days are you referring?

You don't really want morality, you just want the APPEARANCE of morality in public life. As so many other people answered, people have always been immoral, now's no different than the past. But you prefer hypocrisy to truth, right?
On the other hand, maybe in some cases the appearance of morality actually encouraged people to BE moral. But I say, in just as many cases, it enabled people to hide their immorality.
Think of JFK. He was a worse womanizer than Clinton, but because of media hypocrisy, he was never called on it. You call that the good old days?

Times change but people don't. You are more *aware* of immorality now because of the liberal media and liberal Hollywood producers because they report and make movies based on reality.

There are easy steps:
1- Remove pesky "civil rights" and bring back slavery from those "good old days."
2- Put children back in the fields instead of wasting valuable time in school.
3- Take women back out of the workplace and force them back into complete dependency on their husbands
4- Democracy shmerocracy! Bring back the warlords!
5- Medical advances are useless in the "good old days" of leeches.
The "good old days" to which you refer never happened. In truth, despite the media hype, our schools are safer than they have been in decades, women are enjoying the freedoms they deserve, race relations are much better than the Jim Crow "good old days," and medicine has improved life for everyone from cancer patients to the chronically depressed.
The violence and sex in movies have been there for better than 40 years, just with less impressive cinematography. If such movies are disturbing, we don't have to watch.
Today, we live in a world of freedom and potential. A real world, not an imaginary "golden age." Stop living in the past and just live.

yes, where are those lions and dogs now when we need them again?
Morality has never been the norm. it has always been a target but never obtained. things are no worse now than they were 2000 years ago. remember what they did to the slaves and to jesus. today is just human morality as usual.
I would like to put all our world leaders into an area with swords and then call out the dogs and lions and watch them all destroy each other while I watch and eat popcorn.
maybe Kim Li would chop off bushes legs before he himself got cut down by abadinijead. last man standing gets to be hanged.

Which good old days were these? I have never heard of a time in history when the entire world was moral. There has always been war, murder, cheating and hatred.
And what makes you think the ACLU is immoral? Or doctors for that matter?

Everybody would have to WANT to do that, in order for the greedy people of this world to sit up and notice that no one is watching their movies, buying their music or participating in any of their ways. If EVERYONE said NO, things would have to change. If everyone lived the way they said they believed, it would affect more people around them, who would see that living a clean lifestyle actually IS better for everyone. It would affect everyone they came in contact with. But, sadly, not everyone is living their lives honestly. <*)))><
