Ex. If I am on a webpage that has a scroll bar on the right hand side, I want to capture the screen as it appears when I first open the webpage without including what follows past the screen via the scroll bar. Hope that makes sense.

In windows its the PRINTSCREEN key next to scroll lock you can then either paste it directly into a program Eg microsoft word or open it for editing by Pasting it into a editing program Eg Paint my advice is press F11 so you get a full screen to play with to return it to normal press F11 again

I use a program calle Printscreen. It will capture a picture of you screen or a variable of that, as you choose.
