Unless your pretty familiar with wiring and electricty, use an electrician. Its how you run the wires and breakers that make two types of voltage. Basically an electrician will have to put a twin breaker(there are lots of other terms for this) in your breaker box run the two hot wires to a new receptical that is for 220v Usually this is done with dryers not washers.

Not sure if you mean a dryer or clothes washer, but a 30 amp dryer receptacle uses two hot wires (red and black) with a neutral and ground to obtain 220 / 240 to run an electric dryer. These wires should be at least # 10 in size.

Unless you live outside the US, most washing machines are 120 Volt. Electric Dryers take 220 volts. If you need 220, I agree that you should call an electrician.

I have never seen a 220 volt washer either, except a combo washer/dryer. Call in the man if it is 220. Is this a large commercial machine?

you would have to rewire the house from the power co. but the washer only uses 120 you cannot get 240 from 120 no matter how hard you try it won't happen.. and butt where do you buy a step up transformer.

there are always strange things out in the world..but most/all houses have 220volts at the main If you have overhead wires into house, count them, should be two insulated and one bare of a heavy gauge going into what they call a weatherhead
Then get help you don't know enough.

Use a step up transformer. For a washing Machine with only washing and spinning, normally a 3 amperes transformer is suuficient, and it is cheap too.
