When there are numerous scriptures on the issue being an abomination in God's eyes. (SERIOUS QUESTION, SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY)

Can anyone who goes to or had any affiliation with a Gay Church fill me in on your doctrine? I've never been to one, but I'm curious in how that works out.

Thanks for your timely responses everyone.

Have a blessed day.

[For all of the people who suddenly feel offended, lighten up this is a serious discussion.]

How anyone could take that garbage serious is a mystery to me. Religion should be declared a psychotic disorder and anyone who practices it should be locked up for their own safety.

First off, remember that churches are hospitals for sinners, not shrines for saints. That said, understand that the entire ministry of Jesus was emphasising the fact that he was here to save all those who came unto him. Since in Christianity we are all sinners (to one degree or another), we have all fallen short of the glory of God. Nothing we can do will change this fact, except to believe that Jesus died for our sins, all of them, past, present and future. It is by grace alone that we are saved, no matter what we have done, as long as we believe. Too many Christians tend to claim that unless you live a life without sin, you will not get into heaven. Jesus claimed that without his grace, no one was worthy to enter into heaven. Murder is also an abomination in Gods eyes, yet Jesus forgives even that. If he can forgive anyone for anything, how can we as mere mortals claim that this group or that group of people cannot know Gods grace? I belong to a Lutheran Church (didn't know a church could be gay, unless you mean lively, which was the original meaning of the term gay) which tries to pass along the message that while we may not approve of the sin, the grace that passes all understanding is available to any who ask for it. It is also interesting to note that the OT and NT while part of the same bible, take very different tacks on the penalty for disobediance. If one only follows the OT, there is no salvation other that a godly life (which we cannot as sinners achieve), while the NT provides the grace of salvation for those who chose to ask for it. Considering the grace of god, given at such a high cost (the death of Jesus), the better question might be how can anyone not practice Christianity?

May the blessing that are his, be yours also

I don't know a whole lot about how it works out, because I'm not big on going to church...

I do have some affiliation with gay positive churches, they seem to just see homosexuality as a part of life...they just accept it and offer support to community groups. Several of these churches are United, those seem to be more accepting in general.

Check out a few gay christian websites, you might learn a thing or two.

Here, check this one out..it answers your questions fairly well.

The truth is NOT ONCE was the word "homosexual" ever used in any of the original texts of the bible, mainly because the word itself didn't exist in those languages.

Anyone can twist the Bible to seem to condemn anything if they take it out of context, read more into a specific passage than what is actually there or simply change the words to fit their ideas.
This has happened numerous times throughout history.

The same way that certain Christians can interpret "Love thy Neighbor" to mean "except for the ones who do something you don't like."
People interpret the Bible/Christianity/religion in general inthe way that works best for them, that holds the most truth for them. If members of the LGBT community, like many Christians, can embrace the central tenets of the religion, and recognize the Bible as a somewhat biased historical document (ie, the word of God as *interpreted by men*, not as direct from God himself), then they can be as good of practising Christians as anyone else.

If you are really interested in what a "gay church" thinks then check out this website for the Universalist Unitarian Church: http://www.uua.org/
(although I don't think they consider themselves to be a gay organization...just open-minded and accepting of all people who seek God and/or spirituality).

I don't go to a gay church although I have a lot of friends who do.

Most of us go to regular Protestant churches that choose not to misinterpret the Bible to fit a narrow and homophobic agenda.

Pretty simple, huh?
