The wife don't wanna know, but me - yeah I wanna know. I got two quads on hold at the Yamaha dealership, I have to know whether I gotta trade one in for some tap shoes or easybake oven or some crap. Can I tell on my own at the Level 2 ultrasound we have next week? I have been studying ultrasound pictures on the internet for the last 3 weeks, and while I'm practically a technician myself now, I would like your input.

Tell me if you could see clear as day - if it was a boy or a girl at your level 2 ultrasound at approximately 21 weeks.

I thank you. Yamaha thanks you. My wife doesn't thank you.

With my last daughter and my son.. it was very obvious. They just showed us the area and we knew without a doubt. Three lines girl.. big glob of stuff boy. Pretty simple. Good luck. Also... don't tell wife I told you so. LOL :)

Dude... RELAX!!!! Please, If your wife does not want to know... then chances are the tech will not tell you... because you are NOT the patient! (Sorry!) BUT you could talk to your wife and see if the tech can write it down on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope for you two to open later if you BOTH decide to. The next thing I have to say... is take those quads off of hold and forget it. The first year of a babies life is going to cost you a boatload of cash... just wait another year or two. And the final thing.... I have two daughters, a son, and a son on the way. My daughters (7 and 5) just got their first real quads from the Easter Bunnie this past year.....when they were 6 and 4) We got a great deal on a pair of used 89 Honda 125's to start them out. They work GREAT! I wouldn't buy a brand new quad as a learner.... too much damage can be done to it. My son will be 3 in march and he will be getting a 125 USED for his birthday also. (our whole family rides quads!) Both my girls love to ride... so don't set yourself up for disappointment if you are stuck only on a boy to ride with you (which you sound like you are) Trust me.... My girls do some kick *ss stuff on these quads already, We may even have the next Travis (or Tammy) Pastrana on our hands!!!

The tech will need to look so that they can record the sex in your wife's file. However, if the patient decides that they do NOT want to know, the tech will be very quick and discreet about it so that the patient does not see anything.

At the level 2 ultrasound, the tech is zipping around looking at SO many different things havign to do with the baby..half the time you will be like "What teh heck is that???"...and they will have to explain. And since they do these things for a living, tehy are good and quick abotu takign the pics (and also to prevent from exposing the baby to ultrasound waves more than needed). But they WILL explain things to you if you want t know...

So you might want to clue the tech in that YOU want to know but your wife does NOT want to know. So she might be able to tell you off to the side, or write it down...and tell you that way so that your wife doesnt find out. However, you will most likely NOT be getting a "boy shot" or "girl shot", so that it isnt apparent to your wife.

Good luck and congrats!

Absolutely...I actually found out when I was 12 weeks. My husband works for a radiologist and they were training a new Ultra sound tech. It was definitely a boy. The way to tell if it's a penis or the cord is, they can switch the shot to only show blood flow. If it has the swirling blue and red moving steadily through...it's the cord. Girls are harder to tell because they can hide it easier. If they ever say...the baby isn't cooperating, chances are it's a girl. Look for what they call the "cheese burger"
three lines, if you get the butt shot. Good luck.

Funny guy you are! You will probably be able to tell if u have all this info and with the research you have done, but for crying out loud, do not tell ur wife if she doesn't wanna know, some ppl are really quite serious about not knowing, make sure u don't let her hear u calling the dealership, lol! What are you getting? Banshee's?

If you know what to look for and the picture is good you may know. You should view some ultrasound pictures. You can find them all over the web.

If you don't know what you're looking for it's unlikely that you will know. I had a girl and she had 3 lines on the right side of the picture. HTH.

There was so much movement with the baby I couldn't tell what was what. When the technician took the picture and pointed it out I was like ohhh now I can see what I am looking at.

if the baby is working with you and the ultrasound quality is good then you should be able to identify correctly. Three lines is a girl. Hope this helps and Congrats on the baby!
