You tried most of the free ways. There are many online searches that cost money. Or a private eye too. But you should know, sometimes it is hard to find people because they do not want to be found.

don't try wikipedia or google or myspace they're useless. do you know what sites he/she used to go on. think of every single site he's been on sites that contain usernames. or use a phone book. if this friend means a lot to you, don't stop trying, you find him/her someday especially at random times.

if you know his first and last name and where he lives you can look it up in the phone book or maybe you could ask the police they have a database of everyone

try yahoo search, and use his parents name at last known address, address does not have to be specific. just town and state.
