They want more than mere tolerance.

Quite frankly, if I had YOUR approval, I'd be scared.

My self-worth is not dependant on the perception of others.

I do not seek validation from those I do not respect or care about.

How is being gay a 'lifestyle'? Are my blue eyes a 'lifestyle'?

Did Bill Clinton cheat on Hillary because of his 'heterosexual' lifestyle?

We don't care if people affirm or approve of our lifestyle, if we did we would all still be in the closet. We want nothing more than to be able to love the person of our choosing, just as you do, without being scorned or ridiculed.

I do not think everyone needs to approve of and affirm my "lifestyle". As Ayn Rand once said

"I need no warrant for being,
Or word of sanction upon my being.
I am the warrant.
And I am the sanction."

Which in simple terms means - I don't need you for a damned thing.

First of all it isn't a lifestyle...it's just one aspect of my life.

Secondly I couldn't care less whether some narrow minded bigot approves of me.

But as a tax payer I am sick of having diminished civil rights compared to straight people.

not saying i do not saying i do not
whats wrong if i do
the christians can tote their bibles everywhere
can ask others "do you know jesus"[yeah i saw jesus on south park the other night]
they can be proud of being a christian and rubb it in everyones face
oh look at me im a good person im christian im reading the bible
with that said whats wrong with LGBT being proud of there life style
some may have had a tough time admitting it
or had alot of ridicule about it
and to be able to say IM HERE IM QUEER is quite empowering
its not necessarily for approval
alot do it for "im here im queer you don't like thats tough"
just to be open about it
to go into a public place and be proud of ones queerness
to not care what others think to be queer to say"you dont like it thats tough im not changing nothing you can do about it"
thats empowering it feels gewd for many to say that

Actually, we don't give a r*ts *ss whether you like us or not. But, you don't have the right to pick on us without us taking up for ourselves is all. Trust me, I'll never waste a second waiting for YOUR approval! Otherwise, do what you want!

And as far as the law goes, yes, we do DESERVE equal rights. Why should we deserve less? We are americans and should have the same rights as everyone. And, we're not ASKING FOR THEM, WE'RE DEMANDING THEM.

Wants wrong with trying to get people to like us? Everyone seeks approval from others.

After many many years of torment and ridicule by straight people - hiding in closets to protect our own being - the fact that we no longer care what you think - gives us our own affirmation.

Personally I think you straight people are bothered by it because you try to make us feel that we cannot make it without your crap.

Guess what - WRONG - we shall prevail.

Get over it - join in or jump ship.

It's not about wanting affirmation or approval. It's about wanting to be left to live a life free of harassment with equal rights and protections afforded to others.

I don't care if people approve or disapprove of me being gay. I don't force it upon others and expect them to not force themselves upon me.
