My mother had hers removed, too.... The doctors will put your dad to sleep so he don't feel a thing... Afterwards, he'll be a little sore obviously, but if he just lays in bed and he don't move too much he'll be just fine!! Good luck to both of you =)

If he has appendicitis, then it is best for him to get them out. Because if he doesn't they could burst and it could kill him.
I don't mean to sound harsh, but I have seen it happen to people.
All they do is make a small incision in the lower abdomen and snip it out. It is not too bad. I had mine taken out, and about 2 weeks later, I was back to the way I was. You have nothing to be scared of, and he will be alright. Good luck to him and you.
I hope that I was able to help.

can SOMEONE you mean besides your dad? no, unless they get whacked across the head with a very inflamed appendix and are not wearing a helmet! he on the other hand should be fine. it's a very routine operation that leaves a very small scar and very short hospital stay.

besides the pain of being cut open and internal organs ripped out? okay, really. it's something that needs to be done. i assume you are going to a reputable doctor. they have amazing drugs so the pain wont be so bad. just be kind and take care of him afterward. i'm sure you being there will be a comfort to him. good luck.
