The MOST common scam out there comes from Nigeria and involves fraudulent checks/money orders and/or wire transferes.

the governments in africa have collapsed and are corrupt or incompetent, leaving the fireld wide open for crooks and scammers. many, many internet scams come out of africa these days, especially nigeria. all those ads you see are examples of scams. ignore them. it is a big cheat.
nobodu ever needs anyone to cash checks etc. it is a lie. stay away. beware. TABOO.

If you really did consider doing one of these, I have a better idea for you. Disconnect your computer, and never turn it on again. Get paid with cash and eliminate all bank accounts and credit cards from your name.

It's the only thing that will keep you safe.

Scammers run mills in Africa, where they email out all kinds of reasons asking for your help in transferring money. It is all bogus. Don't fall for it.

It likely is because there are lots of small transfers, say, from people supporting there families from elsewhere. Micropayments are big in Africa, but often mobile phone minutes are used almost as currency for micropayments.
