Playing Far Beyond The Sun?

Question

For guitar players obviously : I've been playing for about 3 years and throughout, my playing has taking slight turns, from AC/DC classic zep and rock stuff, to a lil heavier van halen, and now i want to attempt to play Yngwie Malmsteen's Far Beyond The Sun, I have the courage and potential, I just want to know if I should be first practicing speed picking and arperggio exercises FIRST, although i do already have some experience in that department, thanks.

I don't know if you're like me, but it seems that I get better results by learning how to play a fast riff or solo from an actual song, instead of just practicing exercises. I say give the song a shot!
