It really depends on the way you shut it off, and what programs are in use while you shut off you laptop. If you mean closing the laptop, by all means is that safe(unless downloading something) But if you were asking towards shutting off the laptop, you usually want to make sure all your programs are closed so that you accidently lose any info. Hope that helps.

Should be. Mine is fine because it's set to hibernate when closed. There should be options somewhere in the control panel on what defaults are set for when you close your laptop, press the off button on your laptop, etc. so check those.

Course this is relying on you having something such as Windows XP which now shuts down the computer safely when you switch the off button/shut it, whereas older systems just switch off unsafely in which case it is not a good idea.

If the question is ment to shutit off while in use, yes you can do that and you will not create any problems.

If you ment close the Monoter or shut the lid, no that is NOT SAFE unless your lap top is turned off. If you close it up while in use you will cause it to really over heat. If per say that you use your lap top for any extended amout of time it would also help to get it up more from what ever it sits onn for more circulation of air. The more air the better as lap tops run very very hot as it is.

Sure, I do it all the time. The default behavior is to go into suspend mode. Most laptops have enough battery life to stay that way for at least 24 hours. Mine lasts over 48.

It is safe. the computer will either hibernate or suspend. But you should properly shut it down at least twice a weak or it will start to run very slow
