We're thinking of moving to either Colorado or Idaho. One thing we like about Idaho (what we've read) is that the Boise area has better (warmer) weather than the Fort Collins, CO area. But Boise is just too big for us. We're looking for a town of less than 100,000 people. But we don't want to feel like we're in the middle of no where. We'd like the warmer weather of southern Idaho and I'd prefer a town with a community college or university or a town within 40 minutes of one.
Thanks

Idaho is really an awful place. The scenery is nice, I won't take that away, but the people make it such a miserable place. And even in Boise, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. It's as intellectually and culturally void as I imagine any place could possibly be.

Colorado is much prettier and much, much, much friendlier, and relaxed. You have a multitude of different locations that fit your bill, and you have Denver in the vicinity if you ever want a laid back urban escape for a few days.

Unless you are a Mormon, or planning to become one - don't go to Idaho.

I think it will hard finding a town over 100,000 In Idaho. Yes, I know there are a few. Southern Idaho Summers can get hot, explains the tumble weeds!
I used to live in Grandview/Bruneau areas, about 50 miles from Boise. Desert, but pretty cheap. Northern Idaho also gets plenty warm in the summer, but winters can be rough also.

Maybe Pocatello, it has a college and is pretty small. I'm not quite sure how cold it gets but I think it is warmer than Idaho Falls.
