We have an 80 GB Video Ipod. My husband has been working with itunes software and putting all this stuff on it. My question is do you really have to keep all of the files on your computer also? Cause if that's the case then we will need a bigger hard drive to cover our normal stuff and the Ipod's stuff which is absolutely ridiculous!

No, not really. I don't, but my iPod is set to update manually, which means that it doesn't sync when I connect it, but I have to drag the songs into it using iTunes of course, so it doesn't really matter if I delete the songs or not. I have over 18gb of music and movies on my iPod and just about 4 on my computer.

In order to set it up manually, just connect the ipod and on the summary thing that appears in iTunes uncheck the box that says 'Sync only check items' and check the one that says 'Manually manage music and videos'. That'll do it. you can delete all the songs and videos you want from your computer and your iPod will remain the same.

Hope this helps and good luck .

Yes. If you delete music / video files from your computer, the next time you synch your iPod with your computer those items will be deleted from your iPod.
