Nope, you wont' be able to keep that email addy once you change an ISP. Get a yahoo addy, that's what I did. Good luck

Not usually, you may be able to change the dial up account to a pay as you go service. Then you would just need to dial up in to it for a few seconds every few months to keep the account active, thus keeping your email address.

You would have to check with onetel though for a lot of isps retaining your email address is something that they would use to try to keep you with them.

I would suggest in the long term getting an email address not connected to an isp so you can keep it no matter who you are with.

Yahoo, google, msn, lycos, aol and a host of others offer emails. Though I guess if you can post to yahoo answers you probably already have a yahoo email and are already aware of tis.

Well, I think you are out of luck. If the address is john_smith@onetel.com, once you cancel the service to onetel, you will no longer have rights to use the "onetel.com" portion. You can, but it will go to them and they will just refuse it.

It's like saying I want to move from my apartment to a new house across town but I want the people living in the old apartment to collect the mail for me and bring it to me every day.

A better way to do this is to get a free email forwarding address from Yahoo!, Gmail, or Bigfoot.com - These services will allow you to forward a certain number of email messages to ANY other email address that you want.

If you use THAT address instead for all your relatives and friends, then you can automatically have the emails going to your most current email address at the click of a few buttons, no need to give out a new address every time you change ISPs.

you dont need to cancel your dial-up. if you just connect to it about every six months you email address will stay active. it is also best to keep your dial up service because if your broadband crashes you will still be able to go online for help.

If your e-mail address is your own dot com then switching providers is not a problem. You would only need to change your outgoing e-mail server settings. However, if you are using your ISP's e-mail address, when you cancel your account with them you loose your address.

What you may want to consider is buying your own domain name for e-mail purposes. That way if you change providers again, your e-mail address need not change because your connectivity provider changed.

HTH!

the only way you are able to desire to have the skill to maintain the comparable e mail account may well be to change your DSL to a dial up account (whether you do no longer use the dial up itself). in case you turn to diverse e mail at your new ISP or third party e mail you in simple terms could desire to touch anybody which you truly decide directly to have the skill to apply that, and propose them of your new e mail handle. additionally substitute it on your profile of any sight, video games, etc. which you log into, so in case you ever could desire to reset your password they have the suited suited e mail handle on checklist.

The simple answer is no, but you could keep the name of your addy to your new isp. ie if it was donkeydoos@aol.com you could probably get donkeydoos@btinternet.com for example
