according to the NCAA rules a team "qualifies" for a bowl trip if they win six games. so take all of the conferences in recent years (SEC, ACC. Big 12 etc) look at how many teams won 6 games and thus there is your answer. I think 9 is a "record" but seeing how only 1/10th of the bowl games have any actual meaning I think its a moot point. Now if the NCAA demolishes the BCS crap and puts in a fan demanded playoff system then the NCAA might get some respectability they have lost with their banning offensive mascot fiasco and rigging the computers to spit out a game they want to showcase only to have both coaches suffer a brain fart and go for 4th and forever plays when smarter coaches would of punted.

Why is the SEC as you say mighty? Most of the head people in the NCAA front office attended SEC schools. It has only been the last 20-25 years that the SEC has even made a dent in college footballs history. Can you say; USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama!
Here's a question, how many Heisman Trophies and national championship do you have within the mighty SEC?
I bet your dlike damn, just answer the question! I don't have answer, but being invited into the Tic Tac Bowl is nothing to brag about.

It may be a record. The ACC has 8 this year and may have had 9 last year. I would really like to know the answer to this one.
