you hit "Alt" and a number. for example, to get ♫ you hit "Alt" and "1" and "4." (hold them all in at the same time))
hearts (♥) --Alt and 3
double eight notes (♫) --Alt and 14
eight note (♪) --Alt and 13
smiley (☺) --Alt and 1
this goes from like 1 through some large number =]

Press alt and then hit something on the number keypad. You have to hold alt down though when your pressing it. Like for example, alt + 3 on the number keypad = ⥠It doesn't work if you use the numbers in the row above the keys...it only works with the number keypad. Music notes are alt + 14 = â«
try experimenting...you'll get a lot of symbols

You can hit your start button on your windows page, go to all programs> accessories> system tools >character map. There are a lot of symbols there.

go to start>programs>accessories>system tools>character map.Then press the ones you want to choose and copy them by pressing copy at the bottom of the page.
