I understand if a juvenile has community service hours, that if they tour the facilities it is worth 10 community hours. Is this true?

The San Diego Juvenile Hall has had some open house tours in the recent past. Correctional facility tours are often imposed as a sentence for certain offenses in addition to or instead of community service hours.

There are several programs in place for community service. Our local volunteer center, Volunteer San Diego, can help provide placement/volunteer matching and documentation for required community service hours:

No - the tours are used to scare kids into submission. I certainly hope that you are wrong. That should not count as community service.
