KD, rap started OK and became what it is today i understand. I lived in brooklyn for like 5 years. about degrading women, country music does that, like rap does to black women.

During the 80s rap was about activism. Fighting against the establishment, racism, etc. In the past 16 or so years it has gone down the drain. There are plenty of African Americans who detest it and the message it portrays of blacks. I think that the industry strives because it does give the quick money message where an education isn't important (it doesn't help that schools in the inner cities are not good). But until you have lived in the inner city and gone to the schools there you can't understand how bad the lives of some people who live there are. It is a way of getting out frustration but also misogyny. I have often wondered why white music doesn't degrade it's women so. Maybe I am wrong but I disagree with the b**** and h* references but what other jobs do large numbers of African American "men" predominately occupy. Oh I forgot basketball. In the city many people have more of a chance of getting shot crossing the street than being a rap star there is a lot of anger and frustration. The raps stars just have gotten to the place where they take the frustration out on their race rather than the establishment.

I think it isn't fair to disparage all rap.

Why people like rap is one of the mysteries of the universe. My opinion of rap is.....you can't spell c-r-a-p without r-a-p. I think rap sucks. And why it's considered a form of music, I'll never know. And I'm someone who likes all kinds of music. But rap, that stuff is absolute garbage performed by a bunch of musically illiterate wannabes.

I really think that today every second child has a.d.d. My second set of twins have a.d.d. & all they wanted to do was destroy & hit things & people.I'm glad they got help & are leading good lives now, but the help isn't there for all.But maybe the rap music helps them deal with it instead of actually doing what the brain is telling them to do.It calms the brain waves in them like a cup of coffee would do for me.

I pay no attention to what the lyrics say, I sometimes like the beat of the song. But I do wish rap was like it was back in the day.

bcuz of the bass and beats behind it. the way the lyrics flow together and just go in your ear and sometimes into your soul if it is the right song. the way it can be lite and sensual then hardcore and bad. that is why people love to listen and live rap.

i think it's because it shows inner city kids that they don't need an education to become rich and famous. bad grammer and a couple b*tches can get you places.

not all rap is bad. just the popular stuff. oooh i hate gangsta rap though...so annoying...it gives me headaches because it's just a bunch of screaming over one very loud uninteresting beat. blah

Hahahahahaha... its called OLD SCHOOL you dofus. Just because rap today is all about money, sluty w#ores and bling bling doesn't mean it always was!!! it wasn't. Do some research before jumping to such unbelieveable conclusions.

i hate rap, it's all the same, they need to get some real talent, not just talk about how they're gonna have sex with a ho. i laugh at it, it's hilarious, cuz it's so stupid and amazing how desperate they would get just to get into the music bussiness, such sell-outs. they think they're all tough, but the southern rednecks could easily take them out. they're all crybabies! final word!
